بيضُ القرنفُلِ الّذي
لَهُ الزّهورُ أعبُدُ
The white blooms of the carnation, to which
the flowers are slaves—
أَعطارُها إِذْ نَفَحت
في غَيرِها تزهّدُ
their fragrances, when they waft,
make one lose interest in other flowers.
كَأَنّها جَواهِرٌ
أصدافُها زُمُرّدُ
They are like jewels,
their shells are emerald.
