وَضَعَ اللآلِئَ فَوقَ أسِّ عِذارِه
فغدَت كحَبِّ الآسِ عندَ الناس
He placed pearls above the base of his cheek-down.
So they became like myrtle berries in people's eyes.
وَتَقاطَرت عَرقاً على وَجَناتِهِ
فَاِزدادَ طيباً مُنعِشَ الأَنفاس
And they trickled as sweat upon his cheeks.
So it grew more fragrant, refreshing the breath.
فَاِشرَبْه إِذ كُنتَ المَريضَ لِتَشتَفي
إِنَّ الشّفا في ماءِ حَبِّ الآس
So drink it, since you are ill, that you may recover.
Indeed, healing lies in the water of myrtle berries.
