يا حَبَّذا درّ ثَغر الحِبّ مِنشؤُهُ
عَينُ الحَياةِ فدع أقوال مبهوتِ
Oh, how lovely the pearls of the beloved’s mouth! Their source
Is the spring of life—so disregard the words of one bewildered.
وَمُذْ تَبَدَّى بِهَذي العينِ مَسكَنُهُ
بَنى الجَمالُ عَلَيها بابَ ياقوتِ
And when their dwelling appeared at this spring,
Beauty built over it a gate of ruby.
