كَم تَدَّعي عاذِلي نُصحي وَتَعذِلُني
وَأُنكِرُ النّصحَ إِذ قَد كُنت مَعذولا
How often, my reproacher, you claim to counsel me—and rebuke me!
Yet I reject the counsel, since you yourself were reproached.
دَعواكَ قاضي الهَوى ما كانَ يَقبَلُها
بَل كَيفَ يَسمَعُها مَن كانَ مَعزولا
The judge of love would never accept your plea;
But how could one dismissed from office even hear it?
