نَسيمُ الصَّبا اِعتلَّتْ وَكانَت صَحيحَةً
وَلا بِدْعَ لَو صارَ النّسيمُ عَليلا
Nasīm al-Ṣabā—“Breath of the East Wind”—fell ill, though she had been well;
and no wonder if the breeze itself should grow sickly.
فَقَد مَرَّ بي صُبحاً وجسمي ناحلٌ
فَصارَ عَليلاً حينَ مَسَّ نَحيلا
For your twin dawns passed over me while my body was gaunt;
and the breeze grew sickly when it touched my body, gaunt as it was.
