لمّا تَعذّرَ قال لي كلّ الحِمى

لمّا تَعذّرَ قال لي كلّ الحِمى

أَإِلى صَحيفةِ وَجنتَيّ نسختَهُ

أَإِلى صَحيفةِ وَجنتَيّ نسختَهُ

When his cheek-down sprouted, he said to me, “The whole protected pasture—

have you copied it onto the page of my two cheeks?”

وأشارَ لي أرِّخْ عِذاري طالعاً

وأشارَ لي أرِّخْ عِذاري طالعاً

فَأَجبتُه أرّختُه أرّختُهُ

فَأَجبتُه أرّختُه أرّختُهُ

And he gestured to me: “Compose a chronogram for my sprouting cheek-down.”

So I answered him: “I dated it; I dated it.”
