يا حُسنَها مِن بَرَكةٍ مَوضوعَةٍ
بِحِكمَةٍ وَالحسنُ فيها قَد سَما
Oh, how lovely—a basin set in place,
With wisdom wrought, where beauty has risen high;
حَيثُ سُليمانُ الوزيرُ ذو النّدى
قَد شَادَها مِن مالِهِ وَأَحكَما
Here Sulayman the vizier, the generous one,
Built it from his own wealth and made it masterfully;
وَماؤُها مِن حُسنِها لَمّا حَلا
أَرَّخته وَطيبُها يَروي الظّما
And when its water, through its beauty, became sweet,
I gave it this date: “Its sweetness quenches thirst.”
