تَمَلَّكَ القَلبَ وَاِستَولى بِراحَتِهِ
فَكانَ كَالصَّعوِ مَقبوضاً بِكَفِّ صَبي
He took possession of the heart and seized it with his palm.
So it was like a sparrow, clasped in a boy's hand.
وَقَد عَجِبتُ لِقَلبي حينَ أَمسَكَهُ
مُذْ صارَ في راحَةٍ قَد صارَ في تعَبِ
And I marveled at my heart when he held it:
Since it found rest in a palm, it has fallen into distress.
