وَقَد قيلَ لي صِفْ ماءَ حَبِّ الآسِ في

وَصفٍ بِهِ يَبدو اِنشِراحُ الخاطِرِ

And I was told, “Describe myrtle-berry water in

words through which the heart’s delight may appear.”

فَأَجبتُهم في نَفعِهِ مَعَ لُطفِهِ

يَحكي تَقاريرَ المُهذَّبِ شاكرِ

So I answered them concerning its benefit and its gentleness:

“It resembles the reports of the refined Shakir.”
