أَلا يا مُصطَفى شَلبي

أَخا المَعروفِ وَالأدبِ

O Mustafa Shalabi, my brother

Of kindness and refinement

وَربّ المَجدِ في شَرفٍ

كَريمَ النّفسِ وَالحسبِ

Lord of glory and nobility

Generous and honorable

خَدين الفَضلِ خِدن تُقى

سَليمَ القَصدِ والأربِ

With cheeks of virtue, devoted to piety

Of sound purpose and decent upbringing

شَفاكَ اللَّه خالِقنا

مِنَ الآلامِ وَالوصبِ

May Allah heal you, our Creator

Of pains and tribulations

وَتَخلو الدّهرَ عافِيةً

وَعَنك الدّهرَ لم تغبِ

And may you live in good health

Free from harm for all time

خَلِيَّ الجِسمِ مِن مَرضٍ

سَليمَ القَلبِ مَن كربِ

With a body free from illness

A heart free from anguish

نَقِيَّ العَيشِ مِن كَدرٍ

سَليمَ الذاتِ مِن عَطبِ

A life free from troubles

A being free from defects

طَويلَ العمرِ في نعمٍ

عَليّ القَدرِ وَالرتبِ

Long life in prosperity

Exalted in fate and rank

شَكوت الآنَ مِن وَصبٍ

وَمِنه صِرت بالوصِبِ

I complained just now of distress

And so I suffered distress

وَربّك مِن مَحبّتهِ

يُصيبُ العَبد بِالوصبِ

For your Lord out of His love

Afflicts His servant with distress

لإِعلاءٍ لَهُ درجاً

بِجنّته بِلا ريبِ

To raise him to higher ranks

In His Paradise, no doubt

وَتَكفيرٍ لسيّئةٍ

كَما قَد قالَ خَير نبي

And to atone for misdeeds

As the best Prophet has stated

وَإِكثار الثّواب لَهُ

وَذاكَ عَليهِ لَم يجبِ

And to increase rewards for him

For that is not owed to him

فَدُم وَاِسلَم بِعافيةٍ

بِلا هَمٍّ وَلا تعبِ

So be well and peaceful

Without worries or fatigue
