وَتَخت عَلى نَهرٍ لَقَد رَقّ ماؤُهُ
نَصبت فَشمت النّجمَ أَسفل مِن تَختي
A bed upon a river whose waters have run dry
I set up to inhale the stars below my bed
فَتَهتُ بِهِ أُنساً وَلِمْ لَمْ أتِه بهِ
وَهَذي السّما وَالأَنجم الزُّهر مِن تَحتي
With it I became distracted forgetting why
As the sky and stars are flowers underneath my head
