1. داسَ الحَبيبُ شُعاعَ الشّمسِ حينَ مَشى

    وَغَيرهُ كانَ يَمشي فَوقَ دَيجورِ

    The beloved trod upon the sunbeam when he walked

    While others walked upon the ground's obscurity

  2. وَعَنهُمُ الشّمس قَد أَخفَت أَشِعّتها

    فَغَير ما داسَ مِنهُ غير مَنظورِ

    And from them the sun hid its rays

    So that none could see what he trod but that which shone

  3. فَقُلت للَّه درُّ الشّمس قَد فُرشت

    للحِبِّ مَكرمةً بُسْطاً مِنَ النّورِ

    So I said: God - the sun's light was spread out

    As an honor to love, a carpet of light
