أُعَنّي الكرى مَنَعتهُ النّجومُ

فَكَم بتُّ لَم تَنطبقْ لي جفونُ

The stars denied my lover to me

So many nights my eyelids did not meet

أَوَكَّلَ حِبّي النّجومَ بِنومي

فَكُلُّ النّجومِ عَلَيّ عيونُ

My love entrusted the stars with my sleep

So all the stars upon me their eyes did keep
