السَّعدُ وافى وَهَذا اليوم مَسعودُ
وَالدّهرُ صافى فَلا تَكدير مَوجودُ
Good fortune is present and this is a blessed day
The times are serene, no turbulence can be found
وَالبِشْرُ جاءَ وَعِقدُ الأُنسِ في فَرحٍ
مِن جَوهَرِ الصفوِ مَنظومٌ وَمَنضودُ
Good news has arrived and friendship ties joyfully made
Finely crafted and articulated from the essence of purity
وَغَرَّد الوُرقُ في دَوحِ الهَنا طَرباً
وَقَد حَلا بِالهَنا لِلوُرْق تغريدُ
The leaves chirped in the orchard of delight
As delight descended upon the leaves, they burst in song
وَقامَ مِنها خَطيبٌ ناحَ أَسكَرَنا
فَخَرَّس العودَ حتّى اِستُحقِرَ العودُ
A preacher arose, intoxicated, moaning, stunned us
The lute fell silent, deemed insignificant
وَاِمتدَّ بِالفَرَحِ العَيشُ الرّغيدُ لَنا
وَأَرغَدُ العَيش بِالأَفراحِ مَعضودُ
With joy our carefree life stretched on
For a life of comfort, joy is its pillar
فَاليوم يَومُ سُرورٍ فيهِ كانَ لَهُ
عيدٌ وَأَحبِبْ لَدَينا أَنّه العيدُ
Today is a day of joy in which it was for him
A feast, and we hold it dear to be that feast
تَوَلَّد البدرُ فيهِ وَهوَ مُتشحٌ
بِحلَّةٍ نورُها في الكَونِ مَمدودُ
The full moon was born in it, adorned
In a garment, its light pervades the universe
وَلاحَ مِن أَبرُجِ العَلياءِ في شَرَفٍ
في قُبّةِ المَجدِ عِزّاً وَهوَ مَسعودُ
It rose in the noble constellations with prestige
In the dome of glory, triumphant and fortunate
أَبوهُ بَينَ الوَرى شَمسُ الوِزارَةِ لا
غابَت وَطالَ لَها في الدَّهرِ تَخليدُ
His father among all people is the sun of ministry, never setting
His glory in time is eternal
الضّيغَمُ البطلُ المَيمونُ طائِرُه
لَيِثُ العَرينَةِ صَمصامٌ وصِنديدُ
The noble hero, the auspicious flier
The lion of the den, deadly and fierce
رَبُّ العَوالي وَربّ السّيفِ مُنفَرِداً
راياتُهُ الحَمدُ فيها النَّصرُ مَعقودُ
Lord of the high places and lord of the sword, unmatched
His banners are praise in which victory is bound
كَهفُ العُفاةِ وَللقُصّادِ كَعبَتُهم
فَلِلمَقاصِدِ مَحجوجٌ وَمَقصودُ
Shelter of the destitute, shrine of the hunters
For purposes, protected and intended
وَحاتَمُ الجودِ هطّالُ المَكارِمِ من
مِنّا بِمَعروفِهِ قَد طُوِّقَ الجيدُ
Bountiful Hatem, doer of noble deeds, he is
For his kindness, the excellent is encircled
حاوي المَعالي عَريضُ الجاهِ وَالسّعدِ
في حُسنِ رَأيٍ لَقَد آخاهُ تَسديدُ
Possessor of the highest virtues, of extensive glory and bliss
In good counsel, truly guided aright
في طيبِ نَفسٍ بِحُسنِ الخُلقِ في أَدَبٍ
عَلى وَقارٍ لَهُ بِالحِلمِ تَقييدُ
With a generous spirit, fine manners and etiquette
With dignity, restrained by forbearance
يا ذا الوَزيرِ أَبا العلياءِ في كَرَمٍ
بُشراك هَذا غُلامٌ مِنكَ مَحمودُ
O Minister, father of the exalted, so generous
Receive glad tidings, this boy from you is commendable
ذا نِعمَةٍ عَظُمَت مَنَّ الكريمُ بِها
فَحَقَّ مِنَّا لَهُ شُكرٌ وَتَحميدُ
With abundant blessing you were graced, O Benevolent One
It is deserved, from us, thanks and praise
سَمّيتَه يا سُليمانَ الزّمانِ لَنا
بِاِسمِ الخَليلِ الّذي مِن طَبعِهِ الجودُ
You named him, O Solomon of the age, for us
With the name of the Friend whose nature is generosity
يَحيا سَعيداً وَيُحبى الحكمَ في حِكَمٍ
يَكونُ قُربَ الّذي قَد نالَ داودُ
May he live happy and granted wisdom in wisdom
Becoming near to Him whom David attained
إِنّي أُهنِّيكَ فيهِ خَيرَ تَهنِئَةٍ
ما كانَ فيها لِغَيري الدّهر تَقليدُ
I congratulate you on him, the best congratulations
No one in time has emulated before me
أَبشِرْ بِهِ فَهوَ بَدرٌ لا غُروبَ له
مِثلَ الهِلالِ وَلا يَعروهُ تَجديدُ
Receive good news of him, for he is a full moon with no setting
Like the crescent, no renewal can diminish him
وَفي الثريّا بِسَعدِ الشّمسِ مِن أَسدٍ
أَرِّخْ عَليهِ الهنا ذا البدر مَولودُ
And in astrology, with the sun's bliss from Leo
Date the moon's birth, for this full moon is born
وَاِسلَمْ وَدُمْ في أَمانِ اللَّهِ ذا عُمُرٍ
يَطولُ لَيسَ لَه حَدٌّ وَتَحديدُ
And be well and safe in God's security, with a lifetime
That has no limit or finiteness
ما لاحَ بَرقٌ وما ناحَت مطوَّقةٌ
وَماسَ غُصنٌ بِزاهي الرّوضِ أُملودُ
No lightning flashed, no coroneted one moaned
No branch swayed in the blossoming meadow's beauty
