بِروحِيَ الخالُ فَوقَ الثّغرِ مَوطِنُهُ
قَد كانَ بِاليمنِ فيهِ خَيرُ مَبخوتِ
Upon my soul, the mole above the lips makes its home
Once in Yemen lived the best of all servants
عَبدٌ مِنَ الزّنجِ فيهِ الحُسنُ أَسكنهُ
لِيَحرسَ الدُّرَّ في صُندوقِ ياقوتِ
A black slave whose beauty resides in him
To guard the pearls in a box of rubies
