    وَأَصبَحَ الوَغْدُ ذا مَجدٍ بذا الحينِ

    The generous souls and people of glory are all gone

    And now the scoundrels boast of glory day and night

  2. لا خَيرَ في زَمَنٍ فيهِ بَيادِقُهُ

    تردي الرّخاخَ وَتَبدو بِالفَرازينِ

    No good is left in times when knights

    Stoop to peddle ribbons and display silk garments as their trophies
