1. وَذي بَهاءٍ بِهِ أُذني لَقَد سَمِعَت

    فَهِمتُ سَمعاً أُعاني الشّوقَ وَالقَلقا

    A beauty with splendor has graced my ears, for they have heard

    And comprehended an audition that has pained me with yearning and disquietude

  2. مُذ صَكَّتِ القلبَ مِن أُذني إِذِ اِستَمَعَت

    رِياحُ ذِكرٍ بهاه قلبيَ اِحتَرقا

    Since the heart in my ear was branded, when it hearkened

    To winds of a remembrance that set my heart aflame
