1. ما أَجمَل الشَّمسَ لمّا لِلغُروبِ دَنَت

    وَحَولها الشَّفقُ المُحمرُّ كالعَنَمِ

    How beautiful is the sun when it nears setting,

    And around it the crimson dusk like grapes,

  2. تِرسٌ عَظيمٌ مِنَ الأَلماسِ دائِرة

    مُلقىً يَعومُ وَيَطفو فَوقَ بَحرِ دَمِ

    A mighty shield of diamond, round,

    Floating upon and buoyant over a sea of blood.
