رَأَى الحَبيبُ غَزالَ المِسكِ بانَ لَهُ

فَرامَ يَصطادهُ في نَبلِ مُقلتِهِ

The beloved saw the musk gazelle appear

So he set out to hunt it with his slender arrows

مُذْ فَرَّ مِنهُ وَجَدَّ السعيَ أَلجَأَه

فَراحَ يَضرِبُهُ في مِسك سرَّتهِ

Since it fled from him, he persisted zealously

So he took to striking it with his perfumed robe

فَأَدرك المِسكُ خَدَّ الحِبِّ حَلَّ بِهِ

حَتّى اِستَحالَ عِذاراً فَوقَ وَجنَتِهِ

Thus the musk reached the cheek of the loved one and clung to it

Until it transformed to coquetry above his cheeks
