This is a mosque whose structure stands upon piety.
This mosque built on piety,
The builder founded it and raised it up.
Its founder raised it high.
He built it for God, the Generous, with sincere devotion.
He built it for God sincerely,
Granted success in doing good, he came to gather it—
Success in good, he came to try.
Ali, the noble-hearted, lofty in aspiration.
Ali the valiant, the exalted soul,
He hopes for reward and yearns for it.
Seeking reward, herein his hope's whole.
So it became a mosque, gathering goodness.
So he made a mosque, gathering good,
Its unspoken voice has indeed said: Listen!
Its state says "Listen as you should:
Resolve to pray within me, and hasten.
Strive to pray here, hasten in pace,
And observe devotional retreat at all times, and humble yourselves.
Retreat here always, plead for grace.
And strive against the self in prayer; record the date:
Struggle your soul in prayers to train,
O you who believe, bow down!
O you faithful, bow down and bend!"
