The universe has darkened, and its reaches have turned black;
The universe has darkened, its edges blackened,
For my full moon has died, and in him the universe was seen.
Since my full moon died, and the universe through him was seen,
So, O sky, grieve and shed stars in sorrow,
So sky, mourn me, and stars cry in anguish,
For today they have buried the moon beneath the soil.
For today, buried under the soil, is the moon.
