The beloved complained about some of his teeth.
Love complained of some of its teeth
And that tooth is the orphan among jewels.
And that orphan of the gem
Then a tooth-puller came to extract it.
So a dislodger came to its castle
Then the pure wine of sugar-sweet, dusky lips flowed.
So it shed the juice of sweet dates
So I hastened to sip, drinking it in.
So I hastened to sip as one who sips
I grew drunk, though I had never been drunk before.
I got drunk, and before that I was not drunk
So, O tooth-puller, be gentle with my beloved and me.
So O dislodger, be gentle with my love and I
So as for the orphan, do not oppress him.
And as for the orphan, do not subdue it
