Your favors, O sea of generosity, are a sea in which I have drowned.
Your blessings are an ocean of dew, an ocean in which I drowned
And I have come to be called one drowned in favors and blessings.
And I came to be called the drowned of favors and bounties
And I am unable to give thanks for even the least of them.
Yet I'm incapable of thanking even its smallest
And my tongue and mouth, for all their powers, have faltered at it.
My tongue and mouth failed, exhausted
You have made me forget Hatim, then Ibn Za’idah,
Did you forget Hatim and the son of Zaida
And all who became models of generosity and munificence.
Who became examples of generosity and nobility
May you never cease giving, and may no one give to you
You keep giving while no one gives you
Except the Generous One, guarantor of sustenance for the nations.
Except the noble, guarantor of provision for nations
And your hand has always been uppermost, and has never ceased
Your sublime hand never ceased
Giving life to the noble and the house of poverty and want.
Reviving the generous and the house of poverty and nonexistence
