Slender of form, with a countenance that puts the sun to shame,
The morning sun caresses the branches,
he steals lovers’ hearts with its beauty.
With its beauty it steals the hearts of lovers.
So I said, “Grant me union, for a blaze has flared in my heart,
I said, "Unite me," and in my heart a flame ignited,
and tears stream from my eye and pour forth.”
My tears flow and pour down my eyelids.
Then he said, “Union with me is impossible; it has never come to be.
He said, "To unite is impossible, it will never happen,
But I shall grant you that by which the flame is quenched.
But I will give you what extinguishes this fire."
So fill your eye’s cup with the water of my beauty, so that
"Fill the cup of your eye with the water of my beauty,
the blaze that makes your entrails burn may be quenched.”
So that the flames burning inside you are extinguished."
