تَصارَعَ القومُ بِقُربِ دارِها
فَالتَفَتت بِآخرِ الأَحداقِ
The people wrestled near her house.
The people fought near her abode
Then she turned, glancing from the corners of her eyes.
She glanced back with her eyes' farthest reach
فَالقَومُ صَرعى قَد غَدوا مِن لَحظِها
قُلتُ هُنا مَصارِعُ العشّاقِ
So the people had fallen slain by her glance.
And the fighters fell from her gaze, felled
I said, "Here are the places where lovers perish."
I said: Here lie the battlefield of lovers
