وَساقٍ بَدا في كَفِّهِ كأسَ راحَةٍ
فَطَلَّ عَلَيها وَجهه حينَ رَشِفهِ
And a cupbearer appeared, a cup of solace in his palm;
With hand outstretched, a cup of solace he bore
Then his face appeared above it as he sipped.
When he drank deep, his face glowed all the more
فَأَبصَرت مِن شَمسِ المحيّا شُعاعَها
غَدا نازِلاً لِلأَرضِ مِن تَحتِ كفّهِ
Then I saw the ray from the sun of his face,
The sun's bright rays, from his smile were seen
Now descending to earth from beneath his palm.
Falling to earth, from beneath his hand serene
