This is the tomb of the scholar,

This is the tomb of the scholar Nizami

the erudite master of sound disposition,

Of excellent temperament and pure diction

الكزبَريِّ محمّدٍ

شَمسِ المَعارفِ وَالعلومِ

شَيخ الشّيوخِ بِجِلَّقٍ

شَيخ الشّيوخِ بِجِلَّقٍ

مِن كلّ أَفضَل ذي فُهومِ

مِن كلّ أَفضَل ذي فُهومِ

the sheikh of sheikhs in Jillaq,

Sheikh of sheikhs in Jillagh

among all the finest men of understanding.

Superior in understanding to all

مَن حَلَّ فيهِ فَهوَ أرِّخْ

مَن حَلَّ فيهِ فَهوَ أرِّخْ

واجدٌ روضَ النعيمِ

واجدٌ روضَ النعيمِ

He who rests within it is—record the date—

Whoever enters it, date it,

one who has found the garden of bliss.

As having attained the garden of paradise
