O Badr, full moon of glory—welcome, a warm and hearty welcome!
The sublime have arrived, welcome, at ease, greeted
Beirut shone through you on every side.
Beirut has lit up from every side with you, O Badr, honoring it in the beauty of a procession
And you honored her, O Badr, in a splendid procession,
And we have not heard the like of it in processions
and never have we heard its like among processions.
You were like the full moon among its stars
And you were like the full moon of the horizon among its stars,
The like of the full moon is scarce among planets
and rare indeed is the full moon's equal among the stars.
It boasted with you of honor, pride, and competed
So she exulted in you, in honor and pride, and jostled
at the top of its glory with the highest of ranks
Suha's zenith with her shoulders, in her pride.
And you, O Ali, sublime in your glory
And you are lofty in standing; glory rises through you,
and supremacy was yours, the highest of positions
and lofty eminence was yours, the most splendid of ranks.
You rose as a minaret, then as fate and position
You rose as a beacon, then in worth and office;
so you have always been lofty of positions
so may you remain for all time exalted in office.
And you attained the finest morals and gentleness
And you have gained, from fine qualities and their gentleness,
and the nobility of character, excellent traits
and from nobility of character, the beauty of virtues.
You have come to this sanctuary, best of arrivals
You came to this sanctuary with the best of arrivals;
so we attained through it the most honorable of gains
so through it we gained honor, the most splendid of gains.
And we flew from joy in it, and indeed we
And we soared with joy at it, and indeed we
went with it to pride, all paths
took, through it, every path to pride.
Congratulations to us in it, congratulations and pride
Joy to us in it—joy and a source of pride
over all people of the East, then West
above all the people of the East, then of the western lands!
You have healed with it hearts and thoughts
Through it you mended our hearts and consoled our spirit,
and you are for healing hearts, sweetest of drinks
and for mending the heart, your springs are sweet.
Stay in God's safekeeping, appearing from the heights
And remain in God's protection, appearing from glory's heights
on its auspicious edge, firmest of riders
on her auspicious steed, the steadiest of riders,
Happy, praiseworthy, soft living, prosperous
happy and praiseworthy, enjoying a life of ease and plenty,
safe from calamities, then from troubles
shielded from ailments, and then from hardships,
As long as the rose garden chirped in the meadow
for all time, as long as the gray dove warbles in the garden
and showed from its chirping every wonder
and brings forth from her warbling every wonder.
