And though you went east from the west,
Though I depart for some far eastern land
where I dwelt, I did not lose heart.
Or settle in the west, I shall not grieve,
Your image never leaves my eye,
For visions of your likeness will attend
and the sweetness of your speech dwells in my ear.
My heart, and sweet words echo in my ears,
And praise of you is always on my tongue,
While praise of you falls duly from my tongue,
and you have indeed made your home in my heart and within my ribs.
And you are with me through my bones and in my breast.
Where is parting, when this is how we are?
What separation can there be for us?
Is there any place where you are not with me?
For you are with me here, where’er I go.
