I would give my life for a gazelle whose musk has appeared—
I ransom a gazelle whose musk has appeared
His cheek-down, which puts the beautiful to shame.
Its blame by people of beauty is lawful
And from his folds he began to offer me
And it has become for me from its goodness a gift
A fragrance that is magic, yet lawful.
A magic it is, but it is lawful
So I said: “No wonder, when there appears
So I said it's no wonder when it appeared
This fragrance; record the date: ‘The folding of the gazelle’s musk.’”
This strewing, trail the gazelle's musk
