Trust in my patience with time,

But do not trust my patience with separation.

The gazelle eyes of the wilderness struck my heart,

After fifty arguments, in the barren land.

I am not inclined towards wealth,

If nobility comes from the side of poverty.

I am patient with what befalls me,

It suffices you that Allah praised patience.

But I pass the days in bitterness,

Much sin of poetry and images of idols.

I threw them at the pillars of Qays ibn Jaddar,

And I crushed them like stones from a catapult.

Al-Ghowthi is not wrong, rather I am the oppressor,

Can the chick of water stand still for the eagle?

I only cry for poetry, as I

See every worthless person competing in it.

Without it there is a sea surrounded by night,

What does he think of the night in the tumult of the sea?

To you, to you, away from Lawiyy ibn Ghalib,

As Lawiyy does not spend the night tuned.

Leave the hissing snake, do not expose yourselves to it,

For death is between its green fangs.
