ألاَهل إلى أهْل الغوير سَبِيْلُ

وَهَلْ في ظلالٍ بالغوير مقيلُ

Is there a way to the people of Al-Ghuwayr

And is there a resting place in the shadows of Al-Ghuwayr

لقد طال مَا بينَ الطلول توقفي

وموقف مثلي في الطلولِ طويل

Indeed, my standing between aspirations has been long

And my standing among aspirations is long

وعنّفني سَعدٌ خليلي في الهوى

ولم يَدرْ أني للهوى لخليلُ

Sa'd, my friend, blamed me for love

And did not know that I am a loyal friend to love

وكَمْ بين مَن أمْسى خليّا فؤادُه

ومَنْ غَاله يومٌ التفرقِ غولُ

How different between one whose heart's beloved left yesterday

And one who was wronged by a day of separation

كفى حزنا لُبْثيِ بأَكثبةِ الغَضَا

وقد حَدثتْ مِنْ ساكنيه حَمولُ

Sorrow for my stay in Al-Ghadha is enough

And its inhabitants have had misfortunes

أدواي بُمعْتّلِ النسيمِ حشاشتي

وجسْمي عليلٌ والنّسيمُ علِيلُ

My longing sighs in the gentle breeze

My body is sick and the breeze is sick

وأهْتِفُ بالبينِ المشتتِ بيننا

أقِلْنِي فربُّ العالمين يُقيلُ

And I cry out to the scattered distance between us

Take me away, for the Lord of the Worlds grants rest

فإن بخلَتْ بالوصلِ عَنّي زينبٌ

فجوجُ أبي بكر عليّ جزيل

If Zainab is stingy to me with union

The abundant generosity of Abu Bakr is upon me

وأنّ السُّهيلي الوليديّ خيرُ مَنْ

تنال المعالي كفهُّ وتُنيلُ

And that Al-Suhaili Al-Walidi is the best of those

Whose palm attains glory and gives

جميلُ المحُيّا والخلائقُ جارُه

عزيٌ وجارُ الأكثَرين ذليلُ

Beautiful is Al-Muhayya in manners and character

Honorable and the neighbor of most is disgraced

تمنعه لمعُ الأسنةِ دُوُنَه

فليسَ لذي هَضْمٍ إليه وصول

The light of tongues prevents him from his right

So one with indignity cannot reach him

يمد يداً من ناصِح الدين لم يزَلْ يدل

لِتِلكَ على أيدي البريّة طولُ

He lends a hand - counselor of the faith - and has not ceased to show

For those hands the path of integrity

ويسعى كمسعاه ويبني كمجده

نعم ويجيل الطرف حيث يجيل

And he seeks as he sought and builds like his glory built

Yes, and he respects wherever respect is due

وإن خَفِيَتْ انسابُ قومٍ فإنه

لكالشمسِ لا يُبْغَى عليه دليلُ

And if the lineages of some people are hidden

He is like the sun, no guide to him is needed

لئن كان عيدُ الفطر أقبل زائرا

فزارتك فيه نعمة وقبول

If the feast of Fitr has come visiting

Then grace and acceptance have visited you in it

ولازلت تقضيه وأضعاف مثلِه

بعز مدى الأيام ليسَ يزول

And you continue to spend it and multiples more

In glory undiminished by days
