1. سقى رَبْعَها بالأبرقين ومغناها

    حَيَا كلمّا حَيَّا المنازلَ أحْيَاهَا

    He watered its meadows with abundant showers, and gave it life

    Whenever he greeted the dwellings, he brought them alive

  2. وسحّ عليها صوبُ كلّ مُلِثّةٍ

    تلم بهبّاتِ الجنوبِ مطاياها

    And poured upon it from every dirty place

    The south winds gathered its clouds

  3. فما كان أشهاها إليّ منازلاً

    وأحسنَها في مقلتيَّ واحلاَها

    So its dwellings were not more beloved to me

    Nor better in my eyes, nor did it have sweeter roses

  4. وما كان أبْهاها وأعذب وردَها

    وأكرم مثواها وأحسنَ مرعاها

    Nor more generous lodging, nor better pasture
