أنْ سَعت بيننا صروفُ الليالي

أو تناءت مِنا ومنك الخيام

Even if the nights' circumstances came between us,

Or the tents were folded away from me and you,

إذ رمى البين عنك بي فحوتني

يمن أوحوتك عن شأم

When separation cast me away from you I was distraught,

Right hand, I confided in you away from harm.

فودادي ذاك الوداد ووجدي

ذلك الوَجْدُ والغَرامُ الغرَام

So my love is that love, and my passion

Is that fervor and all-consuming passion,

والذي كان بيننا فمقيمٌ

لم تكدّر صَفاءَهُ الأيام

And what was between us remains intact,

Its purity undisturbed by days.

فعليك السلامُ مني وأرْضٌ

أنت من أهلها عليها السلامُ

Peace be upon you from me, and a land

You are one of its people, upon it peace.

والقِبابُ التي بعوسجةَ لا زا

ل مُغْدَودقاً عليهَا الغَمامُ

And the domes in Ausaja remain lofty,

Clouds still gather upon them.

أنت يا قاسمُ المرادُ وقومٌ

أنت منهم قومٌ عليّ كرامُ

You, O Qasim, are the desired one, and a people

You are one of them, a generous people to me.

أصْلُنا واحدٌ نعد ولكن

أنت منه السَّنا وأنت السَّنَام

Our origin is one, we count but

You are from it elevated, and it's elevation.

وبيوم السباق أنت المُجَلّى

كم جرى بعدَك الرجالُ وقاموا

And on race day you are the groomed one.

How many men raced after you and stood tall!

لا أنَاديك من مكان بعيد

قرّبتْ بُعْدَه لنا الأرحامُ

I do not call you from a distant place,

Kinship brought its distance closer to us.

لا كثيرٌ إذا وصلناك يوماً

قد مضى للصدود عامٌ وعامُ

Not much when we reach you one day,

For obsticals a year and a year has passed.

فاذكرونا فما نسينَا هواكم

لاَ تناموا فإننا لاَ ننام

Remember us, for we did not forget your love,

Do not sleep, for we do not sleep.

أنت مولى الكرام لاَ غالك الده

رُ وفَحْلُ الكلامِ حيث الكلامُ

You master of nobility, neither wealth nor

Talk silenced you, where there is talk.

ضمدٌ مذ حَلَلْتَ فيه عليه

حرج إن يحل فيه الملامُ

Supported since you lodged in it, upon it

No shame if blame lodges in it.

فسقت بلدةً حوتك الغَوادي

وَلك العزُّ دائماً والدوام

You quenched a land that contained you with rainwater,

And for you is might always and eternity.
