With sweet rain he watered its abode, as a friend

Whenever he greeted its dwellings, he brought them to life

And poured over it from every gathered cloud

The stars of the south constellation saddled their camels

None of its dwellings were as appetizing to me

As the most beautiful in my eyes that captured my heart

None of its roses were as splendid and fragrant

Or its dwelling as generous, or its pasture as perfect

Oh how distance hid its sun from me

And separated me from it by parting

I plunged into the land of Syria and its houses

In Najran I ask where I can find it

I still tend to its love and pacts

And rejoice whenever its name reaches my ears

So do not hope I will abandon my love for it

Or neglect it after passionately adoring it

What will console a heart once consumed by passion?

Or guide a soul once led astray by God?

Good tidings to Jesus if he makes its joy last

And elevates its ascension above the stars
