  1. لابد من بعد النوى من زورةٍ

    تُسْلِى القلوبَ وتجلبُّ الأفراحا

    After hardship comes ease -

    A relief that gladdens hearts and brings joy,

  2. وتزيلُ عن أحشائنا وَصَبَ القَذَى

    وتُشَرِّدُ الأحزان والأتراحا

    That removes the thorns from our sides,

    That dispels sorrows and distress,

  3. وتبثُّ ما يعرَى القلوبَ من الأذَى

    وتبوحُ بالسرِّ الذي هو باحا

    That heals the heart’s wounds and pains,

    That reveals the secret wishes of the soul.

  4. إن الحبيبَ إذا خلا بحبيبِه

    لابدَّ أن يتداولُوا الأقداحا

    When lovers meet alone,

    They must share their goblets.

  5. هذا يعلُّ وذاكَ ينهلُ تارةً

    لا يسأمون عشيةً وصباحا

    One teaches, the other learns at times,

    Never tiring, night or day.

  6. فإذاعةُ الأسرار عندي راحة

    للقلب كن للقائنا مرتاحا

    Confiding my secrets gives my heart rest,

    So make our meeting a comfort.

  7. إني لأبغضُ مَن يسلمِّ أمره

    لعدوِّه ويعيبُه إن باحا

    I hate those who surrender themselves

    To their enemies and fault them if they speak.
