1. لميٍّ بوادى المنحنَى طللٌ قَفْرُ

    سقاهُ الحيَا الوسْمِى من نؤيه الفَقْرُ

    A thirsty gazelle in the winding valleys

    Its thirst quenched by the pure spring

  2. وغاداه منهل مِن المزْن هاملُ

    وعلَّ ثَرَاه مرعدٌ واكفُ غَمْرُ

    It rested by a hill laden with good things

    While thunder roared and heavy rain poured

  3. وقفتُ به لما مررتُ بربْعِه

    أسائِله عنهم ولى أدمعٌ غُزْرُ

    I stopped by it when I passed its meadow

    Asking about my people though tears poured

  4. وعهدى به يُنض شموس كواعبِ

    تسيل دماً مهما تَوَهَّمها الفِكرُ

    And I promised it suns of beautiful maidens

    Would make blood flow however mind imagined

  5. زواهرُ أمثال الأهلّةِ وُضَّحُ

    حِسان التَّثنِّى دونها الأنجمُ الزُّهْرُ

    Flowers like full moons shining bright

    With beauty of twos under shooting stars

  6. وفيهنَّ مَعسُولُ المراشِفِ غادةٌ

    مُهَفْهَفَةٌ لمياءُ وَهْنانةٌ بِكْرُ

    Among them a sleepy drunk beauty

    Luscious, gentle and chaste

  7. لها مُقْلَةٌ تُسْبى العقولَ ملاحةً

    كأنَّ بها سحراً وليس بها سِحْرُ

    With a look that captivates minds

    As if it’s magic though it isn’t magic

  8. وريقةُ ثغرٍ كالسُّلافَةِ طَعمُها

    أو الشهدِ بلْ من دونها الشهدُ والخمرُ

    Lips like sweet jasmine its taste

    Honey, no, less honey and wine

  9. شفاءَ قلوبِ العاشقين مزارُها

    وداؤُهم منه الموشح والنَّحْرُ

    Its abode heals lovers’ hearts

    And it’s their remedy against separation

  10. سرَى طيفُها مِن حاجرٍ بعد هَجعةٍ

    إلى مضجعى من بعد ما شَفَّنِى الهجْرُ

    Its phantom came to me after night’s rest

    To my bed after long separation

  11. فأحْيَتْ برؤيا طيفِها قلبَ عاشقٍ

    أخى وَلَهٍ قد خَانَهُ بعدها الصبرُ

    Bringing to life a lover’s heart, a suffering captive

    Whose patience was tested after her

  12. فبِتْنَا جميعاً في نعيم ولذةٍ

    وإيفاءِ وعدٍ لا يكدِّرُه الغَدْرُ

    We spent the night in bliss and pleasure

    Fulfilling a promise safe from harm

  13. أبثُّ لها الشكْوى وتُبْدِى ملاحة

    إلى أن طوى أثوابَ ليلَتِنا الفجرُ

    I complain to her and she shows kindness

    Till dawn ends our night behind veils

  14. فقامتْ سريعاً للوداعِ ودمعُها

    على خدّها يَحْكِيه ما ضمَّه الثغرُ

    She rose to bid farewell, her tears

    Betraying the feelings her lips held

  15. فولَّتْ ولى دمعٌ يسيلُ كأنّه

    نَدَى كفِّ سلطان بن سيف هُو البحرُ

    I shed tears that freely flow like

    Dew from the palm of Sultan Bin Saif, he is the sea

  16. إمام هدًى زاكِى الأرومةِ ماجدٌ

    مليكُ الورَى أضحى له النَّهْى والأمرُ

    Imam of virtue, glorious chief

    Master of all, obeyed by low and high

  17. إذا جادَ بالإحسانِ لا جودُ حاتمٍ

    وإن كرَّ في الفرسان لا مِثلُه عمرُو

    None can match his open hand, not even Hatem

    Among horsemen there is no equal to Amr

  18. جوادٌ له في ثَغْرٍ وبلْدةٍ

    لكثرةِ ما يُسْدِى على أهلها ذِكْرُ

    Generous to all cities and lands

    His name recalled for his generosity

  19. حليمٌ يقيسُ الأمرَ قبل وُقوعه

    فكلُّ عظيمٍ عنده ما لَهُ قَدْرُ

    Wise, deliberating before acting

    Mighty affairs are mighty to him

  20. كذَا الدهرُ فعَّالُ لما هو كائنٌ

    ولا شكَّ أن العُسْرَ يتبعه اليُسْرُ

    Such is time, doing what will be done

    Hardship surely ends and comfort comes

  21. ودونَك شِعراً يا بن سيف بن مالك

    سليمَ القوافي زانَه اللف والنَّشْرُ

    I composed poetry for you Bin Saif Bin Malik

    With smooth rhymes, art and prose

  22. ولا زِلْتُ في نُعْماك في اليُسْرِ والغنَى

    وما مسّ نفسى مُذْ صَحِبتكمُ العُسْرُ

    I still enjoy your bounty in hardship and luxury

    Never has hardship touched me since knowing you

  23. فدمْ وابْقَ في عزٍّ وملكٍ مُخلّدٍ

    ومَجْدٍ أثيلٍ لا يغيرهُ العصرُ

    So stay glorious, empowered and eternal

    With lasting glory no era changes
