1. The time has come to honor the pledges of old.

    Their refusal has an appointed end, and the fearful shall feel safe.

  2. So honor an earlier promise once made between us.

    For upholding it will dispel anguish and care.

  3. A man like you does not forget, however long the span may grow,

    nor will one who knows deny noble qualities.

  4. I remind you of the pledge once made between us,

    though you have not forgotten what I am describing.

  5. And it amazes me that I should teach you fidelity,

    when, praise be to God, you know the circumstances well.

  6. Fulfill it; make haste, rise and be noble; speak, and promise.

    Command, rest easy, and be gentle—wretched is the one who breaks his word.
