أتاني كتابٌ من مُحبٍّ مُصاحبِ

صفيٍّ وفيٍّ خير خلٍّ وصاحبِ

A letter reached me from a loving companion,

Pure and faithful, best of friends and companion.

كريمٍ ظريفٍ في القلوب محبَّبٍ

شجاعٍ قويٍّ باسلِ ذي مواهبِ

Generous, refined, beloved in hearts,

Brave, strong, valiant, talented.

صديقٍ صدوق ساعدي ومُساعدي

وودِّي ومودودي وخير أقاربي

A true, honest friend who helped me,

My beloved, whom I love, and best of kin.

هو النجلُ من بيتٍ رفيعٍ عمادُه

تسلل من أصلٍ كريمِ المناسبِ

He's the son of a noble house, its pillar,

Descended from a generous, fitting origin.

حليفُ الندى أعنى بذاك محمداً

فتى صالح أهل العُلَى والمراتبِ

The intimate of splendor - I mean Muhammad -

A good lad, foremost in rank and station.

كتابك وافاني سمعتَ بأنني

وقعتُ من السَّطْحِ الرفيعِ الجوانبِ

Your letter came informing me you had heard

That I had fallen from a lofty roof's edge.

تمرَّغت شهراً في الفراش مُزمَّلاً

بثوب أُصلِّي بالترابِ لجانبي

For a month, I tossed in bed, wrapped

In a shroud, rubbing dirt to my side.

وبعدُ فمَنَّ اللهُ ربى برحمةٍ

عَلَيَّ وعافاني وجَلّي مصائبي

Then God, my Lord, blessed me with mercy,

Healing me, lifting my afflictions.

بريتُ بفضل الله من كل عِلّةِ

وعُوفيتُ من كل الأذَى والنوائبِ

By God's grace I was cured of every illness,

Spared from harm and tribulations.

فطِبْ يا أخي نفسا فقد صُرِفَ الأذَى

وخذ نصيباً من الأفراحِ من كل جانبِ

Rejoice, my brother, harm has passed;

Partake of joys on every side.

وخُصَّ الإمام العدلَ ألف تحيَّة

وألفَ سلامٍ مِن وَفيٍّ مُصاحبِ

Bestow a thousand greetings on the just Imam,

And a thousand peace offerings from a loyal companion.

وبلِّغ سلامي الحارثيَّ وصحبَه

سلالةَ مسعودٍ حليف المآدبِ

Convey my greetings to Al-Harithi and his company,

The progeny of Masoud, ally of feasts.

ومَن شئتَ مِن خلٍّ قريبٍ وصاحبٍ

بعيدٍ ومِن جارٍ لنا وأقاربِ

And whomever you wish of every relative, companion,

Far or near, neighbor or kin.
