لا تلومني فمثلى لا يلامْ

إن مثلى في هواه لا يلامْ

Do not blame me, for one like me is not to be blamed

One like me, lost in love, is not to be blamed

إن قلبي في اشتغالٍ واهتمامٍ

عفوَك اللهم يا رب الأنام

My heart is preoccupied and concerned

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

ما اجتوائي وانقلابي عن مقامِ

لي ذنوبٌ كالشماريخِ العظام

I have turned away from the right path

I have sins like towering mountains

واجترامى لا يُضاهَى باجترامِ

عفوك الله يا ربَّ الأنام

And my transgressions cannot be compared to any other

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

إن قلبي من ذنوبي في اضطرام

وعيوني من همومي لا تنام

My heart is in turmoil because of my sins

And my eyes do not sleep because of my worries

وفؤادي في اكتئابٍ وهيام

واشتغالِ واهتمامِ وسقام

My soul is in gloom and delirium

And preoccupation, concerns and illness

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنامْ

قد جمعنا من حلالٍ وحرام

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

We have gathered the allowed and forbidden

في اكتسابِ المالِ من كل مَرَام

وانهمكْنا في خبالِ واجترامِ

In pursuit of wealth through all means

And we were lost in arrogance and transgression

فكأنا مثل أصحاب الغَرام

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

As if we were like those obsessed with love

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

لا يضيقُ المرءُ من كسب يديهِ

لاَ ولا يغنيه دهراً ما لديهِ

One's fate does not shrink from what his hands earn

No, and the world does not avail him for long what he possesses

لو حَوَى الدنيا جميعاً في يديهِ

وبكَى إن فاتَه شىءٌ عليهِ

Even if he possessed the whole world in his hands

And cried over anything that evaded him

عفوكَ اللهم يا ربَّ الأنام

إن دنيا ما لها قط دَوام

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

The life of this world is never lasting

فهي لا شىءَ كحلمٍ في منام

أو كلحظٍ أو كمرّ للجهام

It is nothing, like a dream in sleep

Or like a moment, or a blink of the eyes

من يُعَمَّرْ فيها بَزدْ منها أُوَام

عفوكَ اللهمَّ يا ربَّ الأنام

Whoever lives long in it, only increases his days in it

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

فدعِ الدنيا وغادر جمعَها

فهي كالرقْشاء فاحذر لَسْعَهَا

So leave the life of this world and abandon its collection

It is like quicksand, so beware its harm

ضرُّها فهنا تعدى نفعَهَا

فاحتفظ إن كنت تَهْوَى رفعَهَا

Its harm goes beyond its benefit

So if you wish to elevate it, be careful

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

وقل اللهم اغفر زلَّتي

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

And say, O Allah forgive my sin

واصفحْ اللهم واسدْد خَلَّتِي

واكفنى شرّ اللّتيا والَّتِي

And overlook, O Allah, and straighten my crookedness

And suffice me from the evil of worries and grief

وامحُ عني الذنب وارحم زَلَّتِي

عفوك الله يا رب الأنام

And erase my sins, and have mercy on my slip

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

وأجرني من لظَى نارِ الجحيمْ

فشرابُ القومِ فيها من حميمْ

And save me from the blazing fire of Hell

Where people's drink is boiling water

وعذابٌ لهم فيها مُقيمْ

أنتَ يا رب لمن تابَ رحيمْ

And there is lasting punishment for them

You, O Lord, are Merciful to whoever repents

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

واعفُ عن عبدِك في يوم الحسابْ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

And pardon Your servant on Judgement Day

وقِنا اللهم من سوءِ العَذَابْ

فهو يرجوكَ فلقِّنْه المتاب

And protect us, O Allah, from the evil of punishment

He hopes in You, so guide him to repentance

قبل أن يسكن في دار الخرابْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

Before he dwells in the land of ruin

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

إن ذنبي مثلُ تعدادِ الرمالْ

ليس يحصى أو كأمثالِ الجبالْ

My sins are like the number of sand particles

They cannot be counted, or like mountains

ليسَ إلا اللهُ أرجُرو ذَا الجلال

يغفر الذنب العظيم المُتَوَالْ

None can forgive the great continuous sins

Except You, O Lord of Majesty

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

إن تعذبني فإني المجرمُ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

If You punish me, I am the sinner

أو ترى عفوي فأنتَ الأرْحَمُ

يا إله الخلقِ أنت الأكرمُ

Or if You pardon me, You are the Most Merciful

O God of creation, You are the Most Generous

وأنا العبدُ المتمرُّ المُسْلمُ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

While I am the insisting, submitting servant

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

لا تُؤَاخذني بذنبي إننّي

تائبٌ من كل ذنبٍ قد فَنِى

Do not hold me accountable for my sin, I

Am repentant of every sin I have wasted

إن ذنبي مُوبقٌ أثْقَلني

إنَّني أرجوكَ أنْ ترحَمني

My sin has overwhelmed me

I hope You will have mercy on me

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

عبدك المذنب يبكى ذنبَهُ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

Your sinful servant weeps for his sins

فاكشف اللهم عنه كربَهْ

واهدِه للخيرِ واشرحْ قلبَهْ

Remove his worries, O Allah, and comfort his heart

Guide him to good and expand his heart

لم يخب من كانَ يرجو ربَّهْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

None despairs who hopes in his Lord

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

أنتَ يا مولاى ذُو فضلٍ عظيمْ

أنت يا مولى الورى مولَى كريمْ

You, O Master, have tremendous grace

You, O Master of the worlds, are my Generous Master

أنت يا ربي بأسرارِي عليمْ

أنتَ يا مولاى رحمنٌ رحيمْ

You, O my Lord, know my innermost secrets

You, O my Master, are Merciful and Compassionate

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

أنت حسبي يوم يَشْقَى المجرمون

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

You are enough for me on a day when the sinners despair

يومَ لا ينفع مالٌ وبنونْ

يوم يَبْدُو كل ما تُخْفِى الظُنونْ

A day when wealth and children are of no avail

A day when all that worries suspect appears

من صوابٍ ظاهرٍ أو مِنْ مُجُونْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

Of right or wrong, apparent or ambiguous

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

تبتُ يا ربَّاهُ من كلِّ كِذَابْ

فاعفُ عنِّي وأجرْني مِنْ عَذَابْ

I repent, O Lord, from all lies

So pardon me and save me from punishment

عندَ قومٍ ماؤُهم صفرٌ مذابْ

غلّت الأيدي إلى أعلى الرِّقابْ

With people whose drink is melted brass

Their hands tied to their necks in fetters

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

تبتُ يا رباهُ من كلِّ مقالِ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

I repent, O Lord, from all discourse

خالفَ الحقَّ ومن كلِّ نوالِ

ليس يرضَى إن بدا عند السؤالٍ

That opposes the truth and from all gain

That is not satisfactory when asked

من كلام فيه من قيلٍ وقالِ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

Of speech containing gossip and prattle

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

تائبٌ من كل بيع فاسدِ

تائبٌ من كل وزن زائدِ

I repent from all invalid sale

I repent from all extra weighing

تائبٌ من كل ذنبٍ عائدِ

تائبٌ من كلِّ فعلٍ عامِد

I repent from all returning sin

I repent from all intentional act

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

إن يكنْ ذنبي كأمواجِ البحارِ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

If my sin is like the waves of the seas

إن ربي أهلُ عفوٍ واغتفارِ

قادرٌ ينزلني خيرَ قرارِ

My Lord is worthy of pardoning and forgiveness

Able to settle me in the best place

ويقينى مجتوى دارَ البوارِ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

And protect me from the abode of ruin

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

تبتُ يا ربَّاه من كل مديحٍ

لم يجزْ فحواهُ في الشرعِ الصحيحِ

I repent, O Lord, from all praise

Whose content does not align with proper law

ومن الذمِّ المعمى والصريحِ

في جهولٍ أو كريمٍ أو مليح

And from blind and explicit criticism

Of an ignorant, generous or fine person

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

تبتُ من كلِّ مقالٍ وعملْ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

I repent from all speech and deed

ليسَ يرضَي عندهُ عز وجلّْ

ومن العمدِ اقتصاداً والزللْ

That does not satisfy the Almighty

And from intentional economic shortcoming and stumbling

والخَطا الجم والقولُ الخطلْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

And clear mistakes and false words

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

تبتُ يا رباهُ من كل اغتيابِ

لأولى الفضل وأصحابِ الصوابِ

I repent, O Lord, from all backbiting

Of people of virtue and correctness

ومن القولِ المنافِي للكتابِ

فاقبل اللهمَّ تَوبى ومتابي

And from speech contrary to the Book

So accept, O Allah, my repentance and turning

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

كيفَ حالِي واحتيالي واصطبارِي

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

How will I be, scheme and endure

حين لا ينفعُ عذري واعتذارِي

بيميني حينَ أعطى أم بسارِي

When my excuse and apology are of no use?

By my right hand when I am tied in ropes and fetters

فأنا في قيدِ دلٍّ وإسَارِ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

I am indeed in the grip of submission and imprisonment

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

ما جوابي حينَ أعدى للحسابِ

وأحاطتْ بي عظيماتُ اكتسابي

What will be my answer when I stand for reckoning

And my great earnings surround me?

ما يكونُ القولُ في ردِّ الجوابِ

يومَ يشتد بنا سوءُ العقابِ

What will I say in answering?

On a day when evil punishment intensifies upon us

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

يوم يدعون فريق في النعيمْ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

A group will be called to eternal bounty

ليس يفنى وفريقٌ في الجحيمْ

فأجرني يا إلهي يا كريمْ

While another group in Hellfire

So save me, O my God, O Most Generous

من عذاب لهم فيها مُقيمْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

From the lasting punishment for them therein

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

يا حبيبَ الله يا من عظَّمهْ

ربه واختارَه بل كرَّمَهْ

O Beloved of God, whose status was made great

By his Lord, who chose him and honored him

واصطفاه مرسلا بل كلَّمهْ

لم يزل يَتقْوُ هدى ما عَلَّمَهُ

And selected him as a Messenger and even spoke to him

He continues to fear the guidance he was taught

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

يَا رسول الله ذَا الصيتِ الرفيعِ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

O Messenger of God of high repute

وعظيم القدر والحرز المنيعِ

وأبَا الإحسانِ والحسنِ البديعِ

And great stature and strong protection

O father of kindness and wonderful beauty

إنني أرجوكَ يا خيرَ شَفيعِ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

I hope in you, O best intercessor

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

كن شفيعِي لا شفيعَ سِواكْ

إنني متبعٌ نور هداكْ

Be my intercessor, none can intercede but you

I follow the light of your guidance

فازَ من قد ظِل في ظل لِوَاكْ

لا أهانَ اللهُ ربّي مَنْ رَجَاكَ

Whoever lived in your shade succeeded

My Lord will not dishonor one who hopes in you

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

ثم صلّ ربنا الباري عليك

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

Then bestow peace, O our Creator, upon you

وَضَجِيعَيْك المقيمين لديْك

وعلى مَنْ واقفٌ بين يديْكَ

And your two companions residing with you

And those standing before you

خادم الوحى الذي يَهْوِى إليك

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

The servant of revelation, who aspires to you

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

وهو رُوحُ القدسِ جبريلُ الأمينْ

صفوةُ الرحمن والعقد الثمينْ

He is the Spirit of Holiness, Gabriel the Trustworthy

The elite of the Merciful and the precious jewel

خيرُ رسلِ الله ربِّ العالمينْ

خادمُ المختارِ غوثُ المسلمينْ

The best of God's messengers, Lord of the worlds

Servant of the Chosen One, succor of Muslims

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنام

وعلى أصحابه والتابعينْ

Forgive me, Oh Lord of mankind

And upon his companions and followers

جميعِ الأوليَا والمؤمنينْ

من لدنْ آدَمِنا والآخرينْ

All the saints and believers

From our father Adam and others

رضى اللهُ عنهمْ أَجْمعينْ

عفوك اللهم يا رب الأنامْ

May God be pleased with them all
