    O you of generous favours,

And son of the pure Imam,

And brother of the exalted and sublime,

    And supporter, son of supporter,

    And bestower of abundant rain

    Upon plentiful pouring showers,

And strengthener of the people of religion

    With the pure, Hanifi faith,

And subduer of the people of tyranny

    With piercing, penetrating blades,

You are the pure, son of the pure,

Son of the pure, son of the pure,

    O you whose opinion turns

    The edges of penetrating swords,

You are my rescuer and refuge

    From the tyranny of time,

Selling is no trickery of mine

    For seekers of abundant grace,

Do you think I came to you

    With some rare deceit?

    Be gentle, for the innocent

    Stumble like the negligent,

    The ungrateful for blessings

From his Lord is not like the thankful,

    Nor is the believing affirmant

Of his God like the denier,

Nor is one who forgets passion

    Like the enamoured rememberer,

Nor is one who desires separation

    Like the sleepless lover,

O poet of the sublime, be

    Of kindness to this poet,

The reality of my condition warns you

    Of what my conscience conceals,

And so does the rest of my mind

Warn you of it through my appearance,

    So accept my excuses that

Came from me, and excuse me!
