1. وحباك الإلهُ ملكاً وإنصالاَ

    وعزّاً يُطحْطِحُ الأَجْيالاَ

    God has granted you kingship and power

    And glory that defeats generations

  2. يا حليفَ العلى قد اختارَك اللهُ

    إماماً أزكى الأنامِ فِعَالاَ

    O ally of the sublime, God has chosen you

    The most virtuous leader of all people

  3. أنتَ أنتَ الفتَى أبو العرب الزاكى

    أبُو الخلق كلهم لَنْ تَزَالاَ

    You, you are the noble one, father of the generous Arabs

    Father of all people, you shall not cease to be

  4. يا ابنَ سلطان أنت كاسمك

    والوالد يعصى في ولده العذَّالاَ

    O son of the sultan, you are like your name

    And the father is disobeyed in his severe son

  5. أنتَ مولّى لنا ونحنُ عبيدٌ

    لكَ نَرْضى رضاكَ حالاً فحالاَ

    You are our master and we are your servants

    We accept your pleasure, always

  6. أغرقتْنا كفَّاكَ جوداً فأنسا

    نَا نداكَ الأعمامَ والأخوالا

    Your palms have overwhelmed us with generosity, so we forgot

    Our uncles and cousins when calling upon you

  7. أنتَ أدرى بحالِنا إن أردْنا

    حاجةً منك ليس بندى سؤالاَ

    You know best our state, if we need

    Something from you, asking is no shame

  8. ما لحظناك لحظةً قط إلاّ

    ومحيّاكَ نُورُه بتَلاَلاَ

    We have never seen you a moment

    Except your light greeting us on the hills

  9. يشرق البشرُ في سنا وجهك الميمونِ

    حُسناً من قبل يُنْدِى المقَالاَ

    People shine in your blessed countenance

    With beauty that puts speech to shame

  10. يا ابن سلطان سيفنا إنْ رأينا

    ك سَلَوْنَا وصارَ كلٌّ محَالاَ

    O son of the sultan, our sword, if we see

    You unsheathed, all become useless

  11. فاعلُ قدراً وأين تَعْلُو وقد خلتُ

    الثريّا لإِخْمَصيكَ نِعَالاَ

    You are mighty in decree, but where do you ascend when

    The noble have become your sandal-bearers?

  12. من نواليك أو يُدانيك يرجُو

    منكَ يُسرّا لا يختشى إقْلاَلاَ

    Whoever attains your affection hopes

    Ease from you, fearing no decrease

  13. ما تولَّى امرؤٌ ثناءك إلاّ

    صارَ بالفضلِ أحسنَ الخلقِ حالاَ

    No man has assumed praising you

    Except he becomes, through merit, in the best state

  14. يا ابن مَنْ جُودُ كفِّه السحب

    وفي الحربِ يفضحُ الرئْبَالاَ

    O son of one whose palm pours rain

    And in war puts coats of mail to shame

  15. وَهَبَتْني القريضَ منك أيادٍ

    فعرضْتُ المديحَ فيكَ ارْتجالاَ

    Inspiration has granted me verses about you

    So I presented this praise of you, improvised

  16. لكَ حِلمٌ تخفُّ منهُ الرواسِي

    أنت من فاقَ في الرجالِ الرجالاَ

    You have a patience that humiliates firm mountains

    You surpass men among men

  17. وسَنَا غُرَّةٍ بَدَتْ تطفئ الشمسَ

    وذكرٌ يشيِّبُ الأطفالاَ

    A radiant youth that dims the sun

    And renown that makes children gray

  18. أوْ ندىً لو فرقته بينَ أهلِ

    الأرض لم تُلْفِ فيهمُ بُخَّالا

    Or, a light - if you divided it among the people

    Of the world, you'd find no stingy one

  19. ما رأينا ملكا سواكَ يساوى

    بنداه الملوكَ والأقْيَالاَ

    We have seen no king equal you

    Valuing his servants and peers

  20. كلُّهم يشكرون فضلَك إذْ تُسْدِى

    عليهم مِن جُودِكَ الأفْضَالاَ

    All thank you for your merit when you

    Bestow on them your plentiful favors

  21. كيفَ لا يشكرُ الخلائقُ سلطاناً

    عليهم أنعامُه تَتَوالَى

    How would creation not thank a sultan

    Whose blessings on them are unceasing?

  22. فوربيّ طرقتُ شرقاً وغرباً

    وبلوت الأنامَ آلاّ فآلاَ

    By my Lord, east and west I roamed

    And met people, throng after throng

  23. لم أجدْ غيرَ مخلصٍ لكَ وُدّاً

    جَوهريّاً يسرني ما قَالا

    I found none loyal to you in affection

    Pure of heart, pleasing my ears

  24. قد لعمري أمسَى الكفورُ مقرّاً

    لكَ بالفضلِ مَادحاً قوّالا

    By my life, the ungrateful openly

    Praise you for merit, mere prattling

  25. ما اختلفنا في ذكرِ فضلك لكن

    ما ألونَا في الدين جهداً جِدَالا

    We do not differ in recalling your merit, but

    We have not struggled in religion, arguing

  26. هاكَ من مخلصٍ هديّاً تهادى

    في ثناء من الثيابِ اختيالا

    I present you a gift, offerings exchanged

    In praising one who assumes the finest clothes

  27. بنتُ فكرٍ كأنها بنت عشرٍ

    تستحق الإحسانَ والإقْبَالا

    I built a thought as if ten thoughts

    Deserving favor and welcome

  28. كرمَتْ محتداً وفاقَتْ رُوَاءً

    وجلَتْ منظراً وتاهَتْ جَمَالا

    It surpassed the proud and exceeded the satisfied

    It was majestic in appearance and lost in beauty

  29. فأصخْ سمعاً إليها إذا مَا

    نطقت بالمديحِ فيكَ امتثالا

    So lend an ear when it speaks

    Praising you, compliant

  30. أنتَ كُفْءٌ لها فاجزلْ لها الإحس

    انَ عفواً جاءتك تَبْغى النوَالا

    You match it, so be generous, since it came

    To you seeking drink from the cup

  31. فأبُوها من قبلُ وهو صغيرٌ

    نالَ منكَ الإعظامً والإجلالا

    Its father before, while still young

    Attained from you esteem and reverence

  32. وهو لا زالَ في ذُرَاكَ مقيماً

    أينَما كنتَ لم يزل جوّالا

    He still resides in your presence

    Wherever you are, ever attending

  33. هذه غايةُ المديحِ فمن شاء

    فليقلْ هكذا وإلا مَلالاَ

    This is the pinnacle of praise - so whoever wishes

    Let him say this, else tedium

  34. عِشْ قريرَ العيونِ دَهراً فقدْ

    أبنتْ يداكَ الأعداءَ والأموالا

    Live, delight of eyes, an age, for

    Your hands have built up wealth and defeated enemies

  35. وابق ما نَاحتْ الحمامُ هديلا

    وتولى متيَّمٌ اطلالا

    Remain as long as doves moan

    And the devoted cry out in ruins
