ثلاثٌ يحارُ العقل عند نزولها

وفيها يكونُ الصبرُ غيرَ جميلِ

Three things that perplex the mind when they occur

And patience in them is not beautiful

ثلاثُ خصال يُبِغض الله فعلها

وتذهبُ بالأحلام والفهمِ والعقلِ

Three qualities that God hates their doing

And they take away dreams, understanding, and intellect

فكثرةُ نومِ المرء ليلاً وغدوةً

وكثرته للراحِ مَع كثرةٍ للأكْلِ

The abundance of a person's sleep at night and in the morning

And his abundance of rest along with abundance of food
