أيها العاتبُ ما ذا

ك وما اعِرفُ ذنبي

O reproacher, what is it

that I know or recognize my sin

أتظُنُّ الدمعَ دَيْناً

تتقاضاه بعَتبي

Do you think tears are a debt

that you demand with my blame

إن تكن أنكرت حِفظي

لك وأرتبتَ بحُبيّ

If you have denied my devotion

to you and doubted my love

فبعينِ الله يا ظا

لمُ عيناي وقلبي

Then by Allah's eyes, O unjust

one, my eyes and my heart
