1. أنت على حالتيك محمودُ

    إن كان بخلٌ لديك أو جودُ

    You are praiseworthy in your condition

    Whether you are stingy or generous

  2. يشقَى ويرضَى بك الفؤادُ كما الطَّ

    رفُ إذا ما رآك مسعودُ

    The heart becomes miserable or happy with you

    Just as the feather when prosperous saw you

  3. يا غُصُناً دهرهُ الربيعُ فما

    يفترقُ الماءُ فيه والعودُ

    O branch whose spring remained

    The water does not separate from it or the stick

  4. فات بك الحسنُ أن تُحَدَّ ولل

    بدر بما انحطّ عنك تحديدُ

    Your beauty went beyond being bounded

    And the full moon has diminished compared to you

  5. قم حدّث الليلَ عن أواخره

    إن مَقامَ الصبوح مشهودُ

    Stay up, tell the night about its end

    For the morning gathering is witnessed

  6. يا ظبيُ لو بتَّ فيه عدتَ وقد

    عَنَّ ظباءٌ ببابلٍ غيدُ

    O gazelle, if you stayed in it and gazelles from Babylon have left

    A place that was once flourishing

  7. أما ترى الفِطرَ صائحاً نَوِرزُوا

    حَلَّ حرامٌ وانحلَّ معقودُ

    Do you not see the partridges crying out "Set out!"

    Sanctity has ended and what was forbidden is now allowed

  8. والبدر يدعو بحاجبٍ حاجبٍ

    للعيدِ بشرَى هنالك العيدُ

    And the full moon calls out with eyebrows "Eyebrows!"

    Announcing the feast, for the feast is there

  9. فاسبق بها الشمسَ أختَها لهباً

    بقاؤها في الزمان تخليدُ

    So precede its sister sun in illumination

    For its existence in time is eternal

  10. صان اليهوديُّ خِدرَها أن يُفَ

    ضَّ الخَتمُ أو تؤخذَ المقاليدُ

    The Jew protected its vessels from

    The seal being opened or the keys being taken

  11. عَدَّ رجالاً من قومه لَهمُ

    في فضلها عنده أسانيدُ

    He counted men of his people as having

    In its virtue, links to him

  12. سنَّ له اللهوُ أن يعظّمَها

    فهي له في الدنان معبودُ

    Fun made him glorify it

    So to him in life it is an idol

  13. حمراءُ ما فازت الأكفُّ به

    من لونها في الخدود مردودُ

    Red, how hands have failed to attain

    Its complexion in cheeks so often turned

  14. من فمِ إِبريقها إلى شَفة ال

    كأس عمودُ الصباح ممدودُ

    From the mouth of its vessel to the lip of the cup

    The pillar of morning is outstretched

  15. دِينٌ من اللهو أنت عن باب إب

    ليسَ متى حُدتَ عنه مطرودُ

    A religion of fun you are, do not be barred

    From its door when you are playful

  16. تغنَّم اليومَ من سرورك والس

    اعةَ إن الزمان معدودُ

    Seize today in your joy and the hour

    For time is limited

  17. ما دام يدعونك الفتى مَرَحاً

    والغصنُ فينانُ والصِّبا رُودُ

    As long as the youth calls you fun

    And the branch flirts and the breeze is gentle

  18. غدا بياضٌ يا قاتل اللّه ما

    تنشقّ عنه من بِيضك السودُ

    Tomorrow whiteness, O Killer of God, shall not peel

    From your radiance however much blackness

  19. لا تجمعُ الشَّيبَ والسرورَ يدٌ

    ولا يتمُّ الثراءُ والجودُ

    Old age and joy cannot be gathered by a hand

    Nor wealth and generosity completed

  20. لا أَخلَفَ المالَ غيرُ متلفهِ

    إن الغنيَّ البخيلَ مكدودُ

    None but its waster diminishes wealth

    The stingy rich man is blamed

  21. يا راكباً لم تُلِحْهُ هاجرةٌ

    ولا ترامت بشخصه البيدُ

    O rider, no she-camel edged him on

    Nor did arrows compete for his person

  22. ولم تَقُدْ حظَّه مخاطَرةٌ

    تُنضَى إليها المهريَّةُ الفُودُ

    Nor did gambling guide his fortune

    To which the noble she-camels are driven

  23. بين مناه وبينه غرضُ ال

    رامي سدادٌ منه وتعضيدُ

    Between his aim and him is the correctness

    Of the shooter and his support

  24. قل لابن عبد الرحيم عشتَ فما

    يعدَمُ فضلٌ وأنت موجودُ

    Say to the son of Abdelraheem you lived so excellence was not lacking

    While you are present

  25. مَلَّكك المجدَ أنّ بابَك مف

    توحٌ وبابَ الأرزاقِ مسدودُ

    Glory has filled you that your door is open

    While the door of sustenance is locked

  26. يزدحم الناس فيه راجين را

    ضين وحوضُ الكريم مورودُ

    People cram into it hopeful and content

    While the generous bowl overflows

  27. وأن عافيك والمكلِّفُ مش

    نوءٌ مُرادٌ لديك مودودُ

    That your well-being and the Provider are compatible

    Something you want is compatible to you

  28. لا هو في الذلّ بالسؤال ولا

    بالمنِّ فيما مننتَ مكدودُ

    You are not in humiliation by begging or

    Indebted by the gifts you have given

  29. يختلفُ الناس من كرامته

    عندك مَنْ قاصدٌ ومقصودُ

    People differ in your generosity

    Some seek and some sought

  30. والبشرُ حتى يقالَ بارقةٌ

    والحلمُ حتى يقالَ جلمودُ

    And people are described as brilliant

    And patience described as solid

  31. يُلبِسك المدحُ كلَّ ضافيةٍ

    لها بطول الإخلاق تجديدُ

    Praise clothes you in every new garment

    Its manners have long renewal

  32. دُرُّ المعالي فيها بوصفك من

    ظومٌ ووشيُ الألفاظِ منضودُ

    The pearls of glory in it, in describing you

    Are strung, and the alignment of words, aligned

  33. تَخْبرُ منه ما أنت ناقده

    وأكثر الإنتقادِ تقليدُ

    You discern from it what you critique

    And most of the critique is imitation

  34. والشعر ما لم توجدك آيتُهُ

    إلا القوافي والوزنَ مفقودُ

    And poetry, had it not found you as its sign

    Would be nothing but rhyme and meter absent

  35. يتعبُ فيه الموفِّرون له

    وهو مع المُسْهلين موءود

    Those who simplify struggle with it

    While with the eloquent it is despised

  36. بَقِيتَ منه لزائرتك بالث

    ناءِ غيداً أكفاؤها الصِّيدُ

    You remained of it by praising you

    A treasure, its like is the hunt

  37. كلّ فتاةٍ مَحْدُوُّها يومَ تب

    غي الحظَّ إمَّا أتتك مجدودُ

    Every girl whose affection is sought when

    She loses favor comes to you esteemed

  38. صديقُها أنتَن والحسود بها

    وبي على القرب منك مفؤودُ

    Her friend you are, and the envious of her

    And I are deprived of nearness to you

  39. في وجهه البشر حين يسمعها

    خوفاً وفي قلبه الأخاديدُ

    In his face people when they hear her

    Are scared, though in his heart are clefts

  40. يَطرَبُ منها للشيء يُحزِنهُ

    واسمُ بكاءِ الحَمامِ تغريدُ

    He is disturbed by it for something that saddens him

    And the name of the dove's weeping is trilling

  41. لا اجتاز عيدٌ إلا عليك وإن

    أَجَزْتَ أن تُمطَلَ المواعيدُ

    No holiday has passed unless upon you

    Even if you decided to delay the promise
