1. قم فانتشِطْها حسبُها أن تُعقَلا

    ودَعْ لها أيديَها والأرجُلا

    Rise and unveil her, it is enough for her to be rational

    And leave her hands and feet be

  2. وارم بها عرضَ الفلا فإنها

    ما خُلقتْ إلا رُجوماً للفلا

    And throw her into the open space, for she

    Was created only to be pelted in the open space

  3. ولا تَحَرَّجْ أن تَرى شِعارَها

    حُصَّتْ ولا البدّنَ منها نُحَّلا

    Do not hesitate to see her slogan being ripped

    She was examined and the body had to be undressed

  4. فإنّ ما تنفُضُ من أوبارها

    أثمانُ ما تَنفُضُ من طُرْقِ العلا

    For what she shakes of her shame

    Are prices of what the sublime shakes of roads

  5. لا يطرحُ الذلَّ وراءَ ظهرِها

    إلا فتىً يُنْضي المطايا الذُّلُلا

    No one casts away humiliation behind her back

    Except for a young man who trots the saddled horses

  6. كم للظَّما تُوعَدُ بالماءِ وكم

    تَرعَى الطَّوَى وكم تُمَنَّى بالكَلا

    How much the thirsty is promised water and how much

    It grazes the slopes and how much it wishes for dry herbage

  7. على ثرىً لا يُنبِت العزَّ ولا

    يكون للحرّ الكريم مَنزلا

    On a land that does not grow glory or

    Is a home for the generous noble

  8. خيرٌ من امتناعها وضمِّها

    في الهُون أن تُطردَ أو تُشَلَّلا

    It is better than her refusal and inclusion

    In humiliation that she be expelled or paralyzed

  9. ما بابلٌ بوطنٍ لعازفٍ

    يأنفُ أن يضامَ أو يُبتَذَلا

    What is Babylon as a homeland for a musician

    Who disdains to be blamed or degraded

  10. دارٌ يكون الناقصَ الخطوِ بها

    والصوتِ من كان الأتمّ الأكملا

    A land where the deficient in step becomes

    And the one with the most imperfect voice becomes the most perfect

  11. كأنما أقسمَ خبثُ طينها

    لا يحمل الإنصافُ فيما حَمَلا

    As if the wickedness of its clay swore

    That fairness will not carry what it carried

  12. وإن أرتكَ شارةً طريرةً

    ترضَى بها العينُ ووجهاً هَلْهَلا

    And if it maintained a warbling melody

    The eye would be pleased with it and the face would smile

  13. فغَرْ على المجدِ وواصلْ غيرها

    أُخرَى تليقُ الفضلَ والتفضُّلا

    So begrudge glory and keep connected to another

    Who deserves excellence and nobility

  14. ولا تكن إلا أخَا صريمةٍ

    متى نَبَتْ دارٌ به تحوَّلا

    And do not be but a sharp sword

    Whenever a land sprouts change

  15. رُمِ العلا بين بيوتِ أهلِها

    مقلَّبا في طُرْقها مُقَلْقَلا

    Aim the sublime between the houses of its people

    Wandering in its paths shaken

  16. فقلّما يعدَم نُجحَ حاجةٍ

    من يقتني الخيلَ لها والإبلا

    So it is rare that the success of a need lacks

    Who acquires horses for it and camels

  17. كم راودت بين بيوتِ أهلِها

    عن رِيِّها فما سقَوْها بللا

    How much it courted death between the houses of its people

    From its shepherd, yet they did not water it with water

  18. وفي بني الأصفر أوتارٌ لها

    نام وليُّ ثأرها وغَفَلا

    And in the children of Asfar there are strings for it

    That slept while its avenger slept and was heedless

  19. وبالعراقِ عَرَبٌ أصفَتْهُمُ

    مُسْلِفَةً ثناءَها المنخَّلا

    And in Iraq there are Arabs whom

    Its long association chose the select

  20. فما قَرَوْها والقِرَى ميسَّرٌ

    إلا المنى مكذوبةً والأملا

    So they did not visit it while the homes were facilitated

    Except with false wishes and hopes

  21. لم يوقِدوا نارا لها تؤنسها

    بهم ولم يُرعُوا إليها جَمَلا

    They did not light a fire for it to warm it

    With them nor did they herd camels to it

  22. لكن لها بالشرق من إخوتهم

    حيٌّ قِرَى أضيافِهم حَيَّ هَلاَ

    But it has in the East brothers of them

    Its guests are alive, so welcome

  23. وجمرةٌ من أسَدٍ ذاكيةٌ

    تَهدِي على البعد الضيوفَ الضُّلَّلا

    And an ember from a clever lion

    That gift its guests on the distance the misguided

  24. حيِّ وقرِّبْ من عفيفٍ أوجهاً

    أسرّةُ الأقمار منها تُجتلَى

    Come alive and bring close to the chaste faces

    The new moons from it light up

  25. وفاخر المجدَ بأيدٍ سَبْطةٍ

    لهم تجود والحيا قد بَخِلا

    And indulge the glory with capable hands

    For them it is generous while the living was stingy

  26. أملْ إلى واديهمُ وادي الندى

    أعناقَها تَرعَ الخصيبَ المُبقِلا

    Aim its necks to their valley, the valley of dew

    Drinking the fresh dripping

  27. ترى الرياضَ والحياضَ فعمةً

    تكرَعُ علّاً ما اشتهتْ ونَهَلا

    You see the gardens and the preserves abundant

    It eats elevated whatever it craved and drank

  28. أُدعُ إلى النصر الحسامَ المنتضَى

    واسأل عن الغيث الغمامَ المسبِلا

    I call for the desired swords for victory

    And ask about the rainclouds for pouring

  29. واجلُ دجاها بفتَى خُزَيمة

    ما صدع البرقُ الغمامَ فانجلى

    And face its enemies with a Khazima youth

    The lightning did not split the clouds and clear up

  30. وافتح بمجد الدين إن مدَّ لها

    يمينَه بابَ السماح المقفَلا

    And open with the glory of religion if it extended

    Its right hand the locked door of generosity

  31. بالعربيِّ نسباً وكرماً

    والفارسيِّ سيرةً ومنزلا

    With the Arab in origin and generosity

    And the Persian in conduct and abode

  32. وقل لأبناء دُبَيْس ما طما

    بالشرق واديها وما تأثّلا

    And say to the sons of Dubais what

    Coursed in its valley and what lingered

  33. فخراً ومجداً بفتىً جَذْعٍ غدا

    من سِرِّكم ساد القروم البُزَّلا

    Priding and glorying in a strong young man who became

    From your secret, he ruled the disgraced nations

  34. شُدُّوا الحُبَى بابن الحسين وانتدُوا

    فوازِنوا كلَّ فخارٍ ثقُلا

    Bind closely the son of Hussein and align

    So evaluate every arrogance that is weighty

  35. وكاثِروا كواكبَ الأفقِ به

    مباهلين واستقِلُّوا الأُصُلا

    And make the stars of the horizon abundant with him

    Challenging and making the origins independent

  36. إن كنتمُ من مضر لُبابَها ال

    محضَ وصافي طينها المُصلصَلا

    If you are from pure Mudar, the cream

    Of its smooth and even clay

  37. والأُسْدَ فيها نجدةً وأنفساً

    إن ركِبتْ أو دُعيتْ لتنزِلا

    And the lions in it are aid and souls

    If it rode or was called to descend

  38. فمن شهابِ الدولة اليومَ لكم

    آخرُ مجدٍ فاقَ ذاك الأوّلا

    So from the flash of glory today for you

    Is the last glory that surpassed the first

  39. قدّمه الله على علمٍ به

    واللهُ من فضَّل كان الأفضلا

    May God put him above knowledge with him

    And God who graced was the most gracious

  40. أمَّره بحقِّه عليكُمُ

    أسخَطَ أو أرضاكُمُ ما فعلا

    He mandated him with his right over you

    Whether he angered or pleased you with what he did

  41. فإن تطيعوا تجتنوها نحلةً

    بيضاءَ طاب مجتناها وحلا

    So if you obey, you will reap it as a

    White bee whose collection and dissolution was good

  42. وإن تميلوا حيداً عن أمره

    وحسداً فانتقفوها حنظلا

    And if you deviate, enviously from his order

    Then pick it as bitter herbs

  43. أو لا فُسدُّوا ثَمَّ ثغراً سدَّه

    واحتمِلوا من مَغرَمٍ ما احتملا

    Or else corrupt then mend a breach

    He repaired and endure from a laden what he endured

  44. من لكُمُ بني أبيه من لكُمْ

    لولاه يبني ماابتنى من العلا

    Who do you have from his father’s children who do you have

    If not for him, he would not build what he built from sublimity

  45. ومَن لكم يغدو بها مغيرةً

    تُحْسَبُ في باقي الظلام شُعَلا

    And who do you have that travels in it as an invader

    That is considered in the remaining darkness as flames

  46. نوازياً نزوَ الدَّبَى مُطلِعةً

    على الأعادي أجَلاً فأجلا

    A consoler the dew descends revealing

    Upon the enemies periods then periods

  47. يقدُمها منكم همامُ غابةٍ

    يعلِّم الطعنَ الأشلَّ الأعزلا

    It presents it from you the zeal of a forest

    Who teaches the thrusting to the unarmed and unequipped

  48. إذا حمَى ليثُ الشرَى عرينَه

    حمى بها الملكَ وأحيا الدولا

    If the lion of evil protected its lair

    It protected the kingdom and revived the state

  49. ومَن سواه مشبِعٌ أضيافَه

    غُلُبَّةً من حيث يُروِي الأسلا

    And whoever other than him is someone who saturates his guests

    Overpowered from wherever he quenched the thirsty

  50. وآخذٌ بيده وسيفه

    نفائساً يسلُبها ما نوّلا

    And takes by his hand and sword

    Precious items he loots that are transported

  51. وأين أبياتُكُمُ من بيته

    إن طلبَ الوفدُ العماد الأطولا

    And where are your abodes from his abode

    If the delegation sought the tallest pillar

  52. تَخْمُدُ أُولَى الليل نيرانُكُمُ

    والشمسُ مع نيرانه كلا ولا

    Your fires that light the beginning of the night dim

    While the sun’s fires neither light nor flame

  53. وتَحْطِبون وإماءُ بيته

    يَقذِفْنَ فوق الجَمراتِ المَندَلا

    And you break while the slave girls of his house

    Throw over the embers the bundles

  54. ومن قِرَى أضيافه أن تُنْحَرَ ال

    بُدورُ حين تَنْحَرون الإبلا

    And of his guests’ homes that are slaughtered

    Are the homes when you slaughter the camels

  55. كذاك ما فاض فصارت معه

    بحارُكم مخائضاً ووشلا

    That is how what overflowed so with him

    Your seas became birthing and deaf

  56. أعطاكُمُ فجار في أمواله

    وقام فيكم حاكماً فعدَلا

    He gave you immoral in his money

    And stood among you governing so he was just

  57. فسلِّموا الإقرارَ بالفضل لمن

    راهن في السبق ففاتَ المُقَلا

    So submit to recognizing the merit to he who

    Wagered in the race so missed the swifter

  58. واتَّبِعوا لواءَه فإنما ال

    مُقبِلُ منكم من أطاع المقبِلا

    And follow his banner for only

    Those facing towards you who obeyed the facing are good

  59. فخيرُ من قادكُمُ من لو سرى

    بنفسه كان الخميسَ الجحفَلا

    For the best who led you is he who if traveled

    By himself would be the Thursday of collectiveness

  60. العلَم المنصورُ منصوبٌ لكم

    فاجتنبوا المنكوسَ المُخْذَّلا

    The victorious flag is erected for you

    So avoid the defeated miserable

  61. مَن موصلٌ على النوى ألوكةً

    يُفصِحُها مؤدّياً ومرسَلا

    Who can convey on the intention an eloquence

    Clarifying it, communicating and dispatching

  62. يُبْلِغُ عني حَمَلتْ ناجية

    ما ضمّ في عِيابه وحملا

    To convey from me, the soliloquy carried

    What it contained in its folds and carried

  63. إذا الفِجاجُ صعُبتْ تذكَّر ال

    فوزَ الذي يُدركُه فاستسهلا

    If the perils become difficult, remember

    The success that is attained so consider it easy

  64. يمّمْ أميرَ الأمراء جانباً

    بجانب الأهواز تلك الحِلَلا

    Aim the prince of princes a side

    By the side of Ahvaz, those hillocks

  65. فحَيّ عنهم وجهَه المقبولَ بال

    جهد وصافح كفَّه المقبَّلا

    Greet him and his acceptable face without

    Effort and shake his hand the kissed

  66. وقل له تحدَّثتْ فشوَّقتْ

    عنك الرواةُ مطلِقاً ومُرسِلا

    And say to him the storytellers made me yearn

    For you, detached and dispatching

  67. تحدَّثُوا أنَّ يديك مُزنةٌ

    تستضحك العامَ القَطوبَ المُمحِلا

    They told that your hands are scales

    That mock the laden year the fulfilling

  68. وأَنك المرءُ تَقَرُّ عينُه

    بفقره لسائل تموّلا

    And that you are the man whose eye

    Is content with his poverty when you give

  69. تُعطي حياءً مطرِقاً ملثَّماً

    وقد وهبتَ مُسنياً ومُجزِلا

    You give shyly, head bowed, face veiled

    While you gave freely to the elderly and plenty

  70. ويُسفِر الناسُ على بخلهمُ

    لأنهم لا يعرفون الخَجلا

    And people show their stinginess

    Because they do not know shame

  71. وأَن أخلاقَك ماءُ نُطفةٍ

    رقَّت لها الريح صَباً وشَمَلا

    And that your morals are spring rain water

    For which the wind blew gently and it covered

  72. فلو سكبتَ خُلْقَك المطرِبَ في ال

    كاسات ما غادرتَ إلا ثَمِلا

    So if you poured your gentle morals in

    Glasses, you would leave nothing but full

  73. وقيل إنّ الليثَ لا يحمِي كما

    تحمي البلادَ غابَه والأشبُلا

    And it was said that a lion does not protect as

    You protect lands, its forest, and cubs

  74. لو حَرَص الموتُ على إيغاله

    يطلبُ مَنْ تمنَعُهُ ما وصَلا

    If death coveted its penetration

    It would seek who prevents it from reaching

  75. يَزْورُّ عن سَرحك سِرحان الغضا

    فما يشُمُّ التُّربَ إلا وجِلا

    It visits away from your enclosure the enclosure of docility

    So it does not smell the dust except scared

  76. وأنّ مُلْكَ الدّيْلميّ روضةٌ

    لولاك كانت بالسيوف تُخْتَلى

    And that the kingdom of Daylam is a meadow

    If not for you, it would be slashed by the swords

  77. أطمعتَه وفارسٌ سريرهُ

    أرضَ العراق عَنْوَةً والجبلا

    You gave him hope while a Persian, his throne

    Took Iraq by force and the mountain

  78. سمّاك إذ نصرتَه نصيرَه

    ويده وسيفُه قد خَذَلا

    You named him, when you supported him, his supporter

    While his hand and sword had failed

  79. يَهُزّ منك صَعْدةً خَطَّارةً

    على العِدا وينتضيك مُنصُلا

    He takes from you a dangerous prelude

    Against the enemies and seeks you prepared

  80. محاسنٌ تواترتْ أخبارُها

    وعدَلَ الناقلُ فيما نقَلا

    Virtues that are sequentially narrated

    And the narrator was just in what he conveyed

  81. فَطبَّقتْ سائرةً أوصافُها

    في الأرض حتّى ملأَتْ عرضَ الفلا

    So its qualities circulated successively

    In the land until it filled the width of the expanse

  82. فهزّني نحوَك قلبٌ لم يزلْ

    بالأكرمين كَلِفاً موَكَّلا

    So a heart that did not stop being

    Assigned to the generous moved me toward you

  83. تيمَّه أهلُ العُلا لكنّهم

    حاشاك قد ماتوا معاً وقد سلا

    Yearning for the people of sublimity but they

    excluding you, perished together and flowed away

  84. وكانت الفَوزةُ في زيارةٍ

    تشفِي الغليلَ وتسُدُّ الخللا

    And it would be a prize to visit

    That alleviates the anguish and mends the rift

  85. فمن بها لو سمح الدهرُ بها

    ودِينُه في مثلها أن يبخلا

    So for one with it, if fate allowed with it

    And his religion in its like to be stingy

  86. أرى مَطاراً وجناحي ناقصٌ

    فكيف لي نحوَكُمُ أن أصِلا

    I see an airport but my wings are deficient

    So how can I reach you

  87. وما الفؤادُ خانني لكنّها

    حوادثٌ عاقت وجسمٌ نَكَلا

    And the heart did not betray me but they are

    Incidents that prevented and a body that failed

  88. فقُدتُها نواهضاً خفائفاً

    تطوِي الطريقَ مُحزِناً ومُسهِلا

    I lost it as quick, agile steeds

    That fold the road sorrowful and smooth

  89. ناطقةً في الصُّحْف عن آياتها

    على البعاد صامتاتٍ قُوَّلا

    Speaking in the pages about its signs

    Silent to the distant, spoken

  90. غرائباً أبعثُ منها مُعجِزاً

    كأنني بُعثتُ فيها مُرسَلا

    Wondrous things I send from it miraculous

    As if I were sent in it as a messenger

  91. مطبِّقاتٍ مَفصِلاً فمَفصِلا

    وناطقات فَيصلاً ففيصلا

    Precisely articulated and precisely articulated

    And speaking clauses and clauses

  92. من كلّ بيتٍ لو دَعَا بسحره

    أمَّ النجوم طامنتْ أن تنزِلا

    From every abode that if called by its magic

    The mother of the stars would believe to descend

  93. إنْ دار دار فَلَكاً أو حلَّ حل

    لَ جبلا أو سار سار مثلا

    If it revolved a galaxy or landed a landmark

    Or traveled, traveled an example

  94. ودَّ الملوكُ نازحاً ودانياً

    فِقَرَهُ جدَّ بها أو هزلا

    The kings loved it, disputing and courting

    Its poverty made it serious or facetious

  95. كأنني حكّمتُ في قلوبهم

    من لفظه الحلوِ العيونَ النُّجُلا

    As if I arbitrated in their hearts

    From its sweet words the blinking eyes

  96. تَعضِلُه الغَيرةُ من خُطَّابِه

    إذا القريضُ طلبَ التبعُّلا

    Jealousy makes it difficult with its address

    When the suitor seeks fickleness

  97. كم سامه من مرغب أو مرهب

    فلم يُجِبْ حبّاً ولا تجمُّلا

    How much it named him from a persuader or deterrent

    Yet he did not respond with love or pretense

  98. لكنني أراك من خُطَّابِه

    أكرمَ مُلكاً وأقلَّ ملَلا

    But I see you from its address

    The most generous king and the least bored

  99. لذاك أمكنْتُكَ من عِنانه ال

    صعبِ وأرخصتُ عليك ما غلا

    For that I enabled you over its

    Unruly rein and made easy for you what is expensive

  100. أهديتُه من قبلِ أن تخطُبَه

    تبرُّعاً بالوصل أو تنفُّلا

    I gifted it before you sought it

    Volunteering the connection or being chosen

  101. فاشكر لمسعاي الذي سعيتُه

    متى شكرتَ شاعراً مطفِّلا

    So thank my efforts which I made effort for

    When you thank a meddling poet

  102. محضتُك النصحَ وما انتصحتَني

    قولاً فكايلْني الجزاءَ عملا

    I advised you sincerely and you did not advise me

    So suffice me its reward with deed

  103. ومن شهودِ طرَبي إليكُمُ

    أني تركتُ للمديح الغزَلا

    And from witnesses of my estrangement to you

    Is that I left composing love poetry
