1. مالكُمُ لا تغضبون للهوى

    وتعرفون الغدرَ فيه والوفا

    Why do you not get angry for love

    And you know the betrayal in it and loyalty

  2. إن كنتُمُ من أهله فانتصروا

    من ظالمي أو فاخرجوا منه بُراَ

    If you are among its people, then prevail

    Over the oppressors or get out of it innocently

  3. أما تَرَوْن كيف نام وحَمَى

    عيني الكرى فلم ينم ظبيُ الحِمى

    Do you not see how he slept while love for me kept him awake

    And how my slow pace

  4. وكيف خلاَّني بطيئا قَدَمِي

    عنه ومرّ سابقا مع الوَنَى

    Kept me away from him while he passed quickly with intimacy

    Angry, oh my anxiety, how much I appeased him

  5. غضبانُ يا لَهْفِيَ كم أرضيتُه

    لو كان يَرضَي المتجنِّي بالرِّضا

    If only the offender could be appeased with consent

    No guide whose feet

  6. ما لدليلٍ نَصَلَتْ ركابُهُ

    من الدجى حاملةً شمسَ الضحى

    Reached him from the darkness carrying the sun of dawn

    He was lost and if he had my heart he would have been guided

  7. ضلَّ ولو كان له قلبي أهتدَى

    بناره أو شام جفنيَّ سَقى

    By its fire or the sleeplessness of my eyelids would have quenched his thirst

    They said patience, then I sighed for them

  8. قالوا الغضا ثم تنفّستُ لهم

    فهم يدوسون الحصا جَمْرَ الغضا

    For they tread on pebbles while patience is hot coal

    Among the dunes a reproacher annoys him

  9. بين الحُدوج مُترَفٌ يُزعِجُهُ

    لينُ مِهادٍ ورفيقاتُ الخُطَا

    Soft bedding and the companions of sin

    He blames me, reminding me of the branch through him

  10. عارضني يُذْكِرُني الغصنَ به

    وأين منه ما أستقام وأنثنى

    And how far from it what went straight and bent

    Wake, draw near the sand hill a visitor

  11. حيِّ وقَرِّبْ بالكثيب طارقا

    من طيف حسناءَ على الخوفِ سرى

    From the apparition of a beautiful woman it secretly journeyed

    He blamed her describing affection

  12. عاتَبَ عنها واصفاً مودّةً

    ما أسأرتْ إلا عُلالاتِ الكرى

    That only the knots of wine had untied

    I close my eyelids to it frightened

  13. أضمُّ جفنيَّ عليه فَرَقاً

    من الصباح وعلى ذاك أنجلى

    Of the morning and for that I get clarity

    As if amazed by him and infatuated

  14. كأنني عُجْباً به وشَعَفاً

    محبةُ العمدة في حُبِّ العلا

    The love of the leader in loving the sublime

    He took action for glory and I did not take action

  15. شَمَّرَ للمجدِ وما تشمَّرتْ

    له السنونَ يافعٌ كهلُ الحجا

    The years did not dress him, a youth like an old man in experience

    And he stood by his opinion so he was first

  16. وقام بالرأي فكان أوّلٌ

    من رأيه وآخرُ الحزمِ سَوَا

    By his opinion and last in wisdom even

    He aimed for the goal until his ambition took him

  17. سما إلى الغاية حتى بَلَغَتْ

    همّتُهُ به السماءَ وسما

    To the sky and he aimed

    So the son of kings takes the kings as an example

  18. فابن الملوك بالملوك يَقْتدِي

    وأبن البحار بالبحار يُبْتَغَى

    And the son of sailors seeks the sailors

    You disappointed him, betraying his generosity

  19. سكنتموها فاضحين جُودَها

    مُبَخِّليها بالسماحِ والنَّدَى

    Depriving him of generosity and dew

    You stole the kingdom after it was adorned

  20. نشلتم المُلكَ وقد تهجَّمتْ

    سائلةٌ بَلَّغَت الماءَ الزُّبى

    Asking, it reached the mountain water the faraway

    And an impenetrable snake blocked the way

  21. وأعترضت وجهَ الطريق حَيَّةٌ

    صَمّاءُ لا تُصغي لِخدْعاتِ الرُّقَى

    Deaf not listening to tricks of cure

    The state denied its crown's course

  22. أنكر فيها المَلْكُ مجرى تاجِهِ

    وقام عن سريره وقد نبا

    And it stood from its throne and became eminent

    It curled around Iraq then bent

  23. لفَّتْ على العراق شطراً وأنثنت

    لفارسِ فدبَّ سمٌّ وسرى

    Towards Persia so poison crept and spread

    It did not know that Oman contains

  24. لم تدرِ أنَّ بعُمان حاوياً

    ما خَرَزاتُ سحرِهِ إلاَ الظُّبا

    Jewels whose magic charms are but gazelles

    It leaves it searching for its fangs

  25. يتركها تَفْحَصُ عن نيوبها

    درداءَ تستافُ الترابَ باللَّها

    A dervish digging the sand desperately

    Racing, it came to you and protected you

  26. سَبْقاً أتتك وحَمَتك حُسَّرا

    عن هذه الدولة هاذاك العَشَا

    From this state, that person of hardship

    Wait O generous people, the yellow has born fruit and the land turned green

  27. مهلا بني مُكْرَمَ من سماحِكم

    قد أثمر المصفرُّ وأخضرّ الثرى

    If you compete in generosity with it

    Then it suffices what rain does so

  28. إن كنتم الغيثَ تبارون به

    فحسبكم ما يفعل الغيثُ كذا

    O star, my eyes were watching it

    Until the full moon rose and steadied

  29. يا نجمُ كانت مقلتي تنظرُهُ

    حتى أستنار بدرَ تِمٍّ وأستوى

    I accompanied it as a fragrant herb so it did not stop

    Calling me until its branch grew long and prospered

  30. صحبتُهُ ريحانةً فلم يزل

    دُعايَ حتى طال غصنا ونما

    Remember, you mentioned goodness when you did not forget

    The memory of my companionship in the days of youth

  31. اُذْكُرْ ذَكَرتَ الخيرَ ما لم تنسَهُ

    من صحبتي ذِكرَكَ أيامَ الصِّبا

    And sanctity whose conditions are written

    On the forehead of glory, respect this right

  32. وحُرمةً شروطُها مكتوبةٌ

    على جبين المجدِ راعوا حقِّ ذا

    No blessing do I distribute except that I

    Am more deserving of it than all you see

  33. ما نعمةٌ تَقِسمُها إلا أنا

    بها أحقُّ من جميع مَنْ تَرى

    What beauty adorned me today with

    Your praise among people tomorrow

  34. أيُّ جمالٍ زِنتني اليومَ به

    زانك بين الناس من مدحي غدا

    The days do not fail, nor do your servants

    Miss virtues from you that are emulated and created

  35. لا تعدَم الأيامُ أو عبيدُكم

    نعماءَ منكم تُحْتَذَى وتُجْتَدَى

    And you do not stop being our lifetime refuge

    A cave until you no longer see a lifetime

  36. ولا تزل أنتَ مدَى الدهر لنا

    كهفا إلى أن لا ترى الدهرَ مَدَى

    Each morning its sun faced you

    A celebration and each night a night of intimacy

  37. كلُّ صباحٍ واجهتْك شمسُهُ

    عيدٌ وكلُّ ليلةٍ ليلُ مِنَي

    If they fulfill an obligation, stand up voluntarily

    So I sacrifice others enviously without end

  38. إن نحروا فَرْضاً فقم نافلة

    فأنحر عداك حَسَداً بلا مُدَى

    And keep what a permitter permitted

    And what called during circumambulation and sa’y

  39. وأبقَ على ما قد أحلَّ مُحرِمٌ

    وما دعا عند الطوافِ وسعى
