1. زَعَموا أَنَّ مَن تَشاغَلَ بِال

    ذاتِ عَمَّن يُحِبُّهُ يَتَسَلّى

    They claimed that one preoccupied with self

    Forgets whom he loves, seeking respite,

  2. كَذَبوا وَالَّذي تُساقُ لَهُ البُ

    دنُ وَمَن عاذَ بِالطَوافِ وَصَلّى

    They lied, by Him to whom bodies are offered

    And those who seek sanctuary, circling, praying,

  3. إِنَّ نارَ الهَوى أَحَرُّ مِنَ الجَم

    رِ عَلى قَلبِ عاشِقٍ يَتَقَلّى

    For the fire of passion burns hotter than embers

    On the heart of a lover writhing in agony.
