دَعا طَرفُهُ طَرفي فَأَقبَلَ مُسرِعاً
وَأَثَّرَ في خَدَّيهِ فَاِقتَصَّ مِن قَلبي
His glance beckoned mine, so he came hastening over
And what he plundered from my heart showed on his cheeks
شَكَوتُ إِلَيهِ ما لَقيتُ مِنَ الهَوى
فَقالَ عَلى رِسلٍ فَقُلتُ فَما ذَنبي
I told him of the passion I have suffered
He said, "Send me as envoy," and I said, "But what's my crime?"
