سامِح خليلكَ يا أبا العبّاسِ

بِخطىً تشرّفُهُ بِها وتُواسي

Forgive your friend, O Abul Abbās

With steps that honor him and console

إِن يستزركَ لحاجةٍ عرضت له

فَكما اِستزارَ أَخو السقام الآسي

If he comes to you for help in his need

As the brother of the ill came to borrow clothing

وَاِسمَع لهُ بالعودِ تؤنسهُ به

لا زلتَ ربّ الفضلِ والإيناسِ

And listen to him with the lute that gives him company

You remain the Lord of bounty and grace

حتّى تعدّلَ بِالعلاجِ مزاجهُ

وَتراهُ صحّ وما به من بأسِ

Until with treatment you balance his temperament

And see him in health, no harm upon him
